Silo AI, one of Europe’s largest private AI labs, and Combient Group, a leading cross-industry collaboration network have established a strategic partnership. As part of the partnership, Silo AI acquires Combient’s AI subsidiary Combient Mix and strengthens its position as one of Europe’s largest private AI labs. Silo AI and Combient embark on a mission to increase European competitiveness by accelerating the adoption of industrial AI.
Combient brings together 35 of the largest companies in the Nordics, such as Atlas Copco, Epiroc, Ericsson, H&M, Husqvarna, KONE, SAAB, SAS, SEB, Stora Enso and Wärtsilä with a purpose to enable business success through collaboration. Combient Mix has since 2019 served the Combient network by advancing the use of AI and data in industry through long-term partnerships in co-developing AI-driven products and solutions.
Silo AI and Combient Mix will become the largest pure-play AI company in Europe with 300+ experts, around half of whom hold a PhD in computer vision, language technology, machine learning or other relevant fields. The two companies will continue to serve Combient’s associated companies, strengthened through Silo AI’s world-class AI expertise and the industrial application expertise of Combient Mix.
Peter Sarlin, CEO and co-founder of Silo AI says:
“This partnership is a natural step towards building a European AI flagship. What Marcus Wallenberg and Mats Agervi initiated in 2015, with some of the strongest Nordic companies, has now become Nordics’ leading cross-industry collaboration network. We’re impressed by Combient Mix with Ali Sarrafi at the front, and see Combient Group as a unique partner in accelerating the industrial adoption of AI in Europe.”
Mats Agervi, CEO and founder of Combient says:
“This is a significant step towards accelerating the adoption of AI in industries across Europe and will create a stronger, more competitive European AI ecosystem. I’m proud of what Combient Mix has built up during these years. Together with Silo AI’s strong competence as well as their commercial operation, this partnership will contribute to a more successful Combient Group.”
Together, Silo AI and Combient will be better positioned to react to the growing demand for industrial AI development and expose Combient’s associated companies to a large team of world-class experts in AI, allowing them to accelerate value creation across their businesses.
Ali Sarrafi, CEO of Combient Mix says:
“Since 2019, we have built Combient Mix into one of the leading AI companies in the Nordics, and joining forces with Silo AI is a natural next step in becoming even stronger. Together, we will be better equipped to respond to growing demand and to drive the next phase of industrial AI as we build a European AI flagship.”
Silo AI plans to continue the close collaboration with research partners such as WASP (Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program), leading universities and other essential players in the European AI ecosystem, while also continuing to advance the development of large language models (LLMs) and applicable tooling to build trustworthy, robust and reliable LLMs through Silo AI subsidiary SiloGen.
Tero Ojanperä, Silo AI’s Executive Chairman and co-founder says:
“Entering the generative AI era, Europe must establish a critical mass in AI. This unique partnership harnesses cutting-edge AI research, a proven AI-driven product development history, and the robust industrial strength of the Nordics."
Silo AI’s current position in the market, combined with rapid international expansion, allows the company to offer Combient Mix’s offering, such as enablement services, to all of its customers globally, as the two continue to build a European flagship AI company.
