Silo.AI opens a new office in Oulu

With our consistent growth in the European market, we’re thrilled to announce the opening of our new office in Oulu, Finland. During the past year, we’ve spread Silo.AI from Helsinki and Turku to London and Silicon Valley. The new Oulu office will strengthen our position in Finland and our team with seven senior software developers, each with nearly 20 years of experience.

Oulu is a strong Finnish IT and technology region with a long history in mobile innovation. Today, the city is home for advanced technology companies like Polar, Bittium, Elektrobit Automotive, KNL Networks and startups building new innovations with deep domain knowledge, such as Oura, Valkee, Optomed, IndoorAtlas and Valossa. In addition, Oulu has a strong track record in academic research around artificial intelligence and machine learning. The University of Oulu’s advances in computer vision are well-known, including the work by globally-recognized researchers like Professor Matti Pietikäinen.

The Nokia and Microsoft heritage left Oulu a vast pool of engineering talent, in particular for industrial and embedded development. This is well aligned with Silo.AI’s focus on IoT, autonomous vehicles, smart cities and a wide range of other industrial applications.

To start with, the new Silo.AI Oulu office will be taken over by seven talented senior software developers, who focus on web and mobile development, embedded and full-stack development. Warm welcome to the new citizens of Silopolis: Tuomo Könönen, Jouni Ikonen, Tommi Runtti, Petri Anttinen, Juho Vikki, Mika Söyrinki and Jarmo Pyyny. The team is moving to Silo.AI from Digitalist and will immediately join our customer projects. We’re also looking for talented AI and ML experts to grow the team in the coming months.
