Artificial intelligence or AI is helping us humans in many ways we do business or work together with machines. Ironic or not, one area where companies are already leveraging AI solutions is human capital and recruiting. As everyone knows, recruiting is often one of the main pain points in an organisation, be it a large global enterprise or a fast scaling growth company. HR is perhaps one of the most human focused areas, but it can be substantially improved with help of AI recruitment solutions. Together with our clients we have seen that AI can improve the recruitment process in all its phases: from browsing profiles, scanning through applications to making better suggestions based on its learnings. Let’s take a look at the areas where AI can help you recruit great hires faster and better.Human-in-the-loop solutions for recruitingWe believe that we, people, can work more efficiently and more creatively with help of AI. We call the solutions where people and AI work seamlessly together human-in-the-loop solutions. First, when you post a job ad, applications start pouring in. In case you happen to be an attractive employer and the position is fairly easy to fill, you will end up with a huge pile of resumes and cover letters that your recruiters have to browse through and sort into gos and no-gos. This bottleneck is often a very time-consuming part in recruiting. As with anything heavy with data, artificial intelligence comes for the rescue. The machine learning tools can analyse vast amounts of data in a matter of minutes or hours, and eliminate the wait time the candidates have to endure just to get invited to an interview. The AI tool can suggest the candidates to be invited to the human recruiter, who will then be the final decision maker for the proposals the AI presented. When AI makes suggestions based on the applications and the learnings from its history, human recruiter can start the work one step ahead in the process.Second, every organisation wants to be as neutral and unbiased in their recruitment process as possible. But as long as recruiting means humans hiring other humans, there will be prejudice, bias and first impressions. While sometimes there is nothing wrong with human instinct, carefully built AI recruiting solutions treat all the data in an unbiased way by default – it is, after all, a system of algorithms that have been configured to work in a certain way. With AI in the process, it is easier to reduce any personal opinions or views affecting the hiring process. However, in this case too, keeping human recruiter involved is a crucial aspect in the process: the AI will make suggestions, but the human recruiter will be the ultimate decision maker that also takes responsibility of the decision.AI recruiters do the heavy lifting of data The word “suggestions” is key. We at Silo.AI are by no means claiming that AI can recruit better than humans – on the contrary, we believe that humans do recruit the best. However, the human recruiters could use help from a tool that has the capability to quickly analyse vast amounts of data: the AI recruiter. To become more efficient and streamline the process, recruiters need help with sorting the candidates, taking account into different data points and getting learnings from their own decision making process.A more concrete use case where AI can be successfully leveraged today is in large scale recruiting. Here the role of AI is to learn as many different features about the job applicants as possible, track their success within the organisation, and learn to recognise patterns that emerge from successful employees. The findings can then be reflected back into the recruitment process, to give an estimate of an applicant’s fit into the organisation. AI recruiters can bring additional information for the recruiters in an easily consumable format and help your organisation repeatedly succeed in your hiring. We have compiled more examples and a deeper dive into AI and Recruitment in our White Paper AI & Recruitment - A vision of how AI is impacting recruitment today.
